    PERUGIA - TODI - ORVIETO - SPOLETO

PERUGIA, main city of Umbria, offers many archaeological sites to visit both in the historic centre and outside of town. With its particular and strategic location, on a h ill dominating the Tiber valley, Perugia represents the centre of the Etruscan civilization which developed on the right side of river Tiber. There is important Etruscan evidence like the monumental Hypogeum of Volumni, the Etruscan Arch, the Necropolis of Palazzone, the hypogeum San Manno and the tomb of Cai Cutu, an untouched Etruscan tomb discovered in 1983.

TODI offers its visitors the archeological site of Nicchioni, decorated halls next to a support structure of the hill where the historic centre is located.

Not very far from Todi, we find ORVIETO, one of the oldest towns of Italy. It has Etruscan origins and is situated on a tuff cliff. It has Etruscan necropolis of the 6th century BC.

In the end SPOLETO, a city rich in Roman remains, offers many archeological sites to visit, the walls, the theatre, the forum and amphitheatre and, in the end, the magnificent Tower Bridge (Ponte delle Torri).

DERUTA - GUALDO TADINO - GUBBIO

DERUTA: since 1200 there are documents about ceramic handicrafts in Deruta. Today, the Umbrian city has 200 active ceramic factories which produce 32% of the whole national ceramic production, with more than 1,000 workers. It is a very important ceramic centre on a national level and a real reference point for the ceramic sector.

GUALDO TADINO: It is situated a bit outside of the common tourist itineraries. However, Gualdo Tadino has much to offer: its little narrow streets, alleys tell us about its medieval origins. Thanks to its splendid location and the fresh climate, it is an ideal holiday destination: this village will surprise you also for its beautiful hand-made ceramics (the village is included in all handicraft itineraries in Umbria). The production of ceramics of Gualdo Tadino is very prestigious, and artisans still create ceramic works with third fire reflections.
